Owners Jerry and April Riegler began their journey into the home health care scene by fostering a young man with special needs. In 1997, the Rieglers decided to expand upon that journey by opening their own group home in West Allis, Wisconsin.

Today Next Step owns and operates 27 adult family homes and CBRF’s throughout Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Washington counties. In addition to its adult family homes, Next Step operates two adult day care facilities in New Berlin, Wisconsin where clients enjoy various community and in-home activities. We pride ourselves on our care for adults with developmental disabilities, persistent mental illness, physical disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries who experience challenging behaviors.

We know that choosing long-term placement for your loved one can be a lengthy and difficult process. Wisconsin is home to numerous health care providers, but while many health care providers exist, not many can provide high-quality care.
